Window Views

While hiking along this past summer, somewhere in Cape Breton,
we happened upon an old, dilapidated house.
I couldn't resist taking this picture looking up at the window.
The rounded top made me believe that once upon a time,
this old house had lots of character in all it's simplicity.

I wonder how many children
watched out this very window
in anticipation Santa's arrival?

I always think of family celebrations inside these old homes, when at one time it was a treasure to many families.

An interesting window, it reminds me of something from a film, perhaps with a ghostly face pearing down.

The house and window certainly do remind me of a time long ago when children played in the attic or perhaps had a bedroom at the top of the house. I love the shake shingles on the house and wonder if they might have been cut by hand. The rounded window frame is delightful. It certainly is a perfect window for "Santa watching." Thanks for sharing.

It certainly is dilapidated, but the house still looks more solid than most "stick-built" houses being constructed today. Look at those solid wood planks behind the shingles! No flimsy pressboard or plywood there. I wonder why no one has tried to restore it to its former glory?

There's something sad yet beautiful about this photo. I bet it was a well-loved home at one time.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while...looks like an excellent picture for the cover of a children's book.

It's always fun to imagine & wonder, isn't it? I take photos of parts of houses when I'm about too :) We're all curious, aren't we?

I have just been visiting, and see that you haven't posted anything for a while. I know how life is, and sometimes an activity is left behind. But I hope you will take up blogging again, when you get the time. You live in a gorgeous place, and take wonderful photos. Both are worth sharing!
