Sand Castle Art Contest

My World Tuesday

I was asked to be one of three judges in the annual
 Sand Castle Art Contest
at our local public beach on Saturday.
It was an overcast, foggy day,

but it was the perfect day for building sand castles and sculptures.
No hot sun to fend off and nice wet sand to work with.

These are just a few of the entries.  Aren't they wonderful?
Everyone had so much fun, young and old.
I felt quite honored.

What fun...amazing what can be achieved with wet sand. I don't think I vere got further than a four tiered sand castle with my bucket and spade..lol.

At first I thought that was you - buried in the sand! It would be hard to pick a winner - so intricate. It must take a lot of skill and patience to build with sand.

I really enjoy sand art, too! The artists are really talented and it is such a shame that the art disappears so soon. Terrific captures of a fine day along the water!

That looks fantastic, I'd love to see something like that.

These are great! Such talent. I think it would be hard to judge them as they are all amazing. Do they last more than a day or does the water wash them away?
Hope you will share more photo's. Nola

Oh yes! They are wonderful, Karen! It amazes me when people put so much effort into something that won't last very long...but then, cooks do that every day!

So much fun. Last weekend there was a sandcastle contest on a nearby island. We will have one in our town along with our Sea Fair festival in a few weeks. - Margy

I always love to see sand castle sculptures. What fun to take part as one of the judges. It must have been hard to choose.

Hi Karen what a beautiful selection of sand sculptures love the Turtle and I think I am in Love with a Mermaid !!.
But excellent work done by one and all.
A few years ago I was on holiday in Weymouth in Dorset and there is a very famous Sand Sculpture who works on the beach. The guy who does it today took over from his grandfather who started it in the 1920's. If interested and would like a look here is the link.

Each one of these sand sculptures is magnificent!
Easy for me to choose a favourite because I love mermaids but all of the entries are just fabulous.
